About Red Stripe Garage
I grew up a Navy brat - moving around the country. Because my father was away often for extended periods of time I had to learn how to fix things around the house and how to solve problems with whatever was available. By age ten I’d rebuilt a lawn mower engine and customized my bike for off-road (before BMX was a thing); those early projects taught me to tinker, troubleshoot, and finish what I started.
Seventh‑grade shop was my first real experience shaping wood and metal. While I always worked to exercise my creativity, woodworking was just not part of the journey. After college I spent 30+ rewarding years in technology, where I enjoyed rapid feedback and solving problems collaboratively. However, the urge to make things with my hands, to work with wood, never faded.
After leaving the corporate world I decided there was no time like the present to start my woodworking journey. Before buying any new tools I studied best practices, tools and workspaces for larger builds. I started with building my own shop furniture, the largest builds from scratch. Soon I was able to start creating pieces that last. My first project (that wasn’t for myself), LED corn hole boards, earned unexpected praise and confirmed I could bring design and craftsmanship together.
In 2024 I founded Red Stripe Garage LLC - named for a red racing stripe painted around my garage walls. Today I build custom wood products with attention to detail, quality and the intent for them to last. If there is something you want built that you cannot find here, reach out and let me know. I’ll be happy to discuss the opportunity with you.
